Mark Your Calendars for the 1st Navy Carnival, March 16th from 6:30-8:30pm!

Plan on a fun night of games for the kids! There’s even a game or two for the adults to play. There will be free games throughout the school with a few games in the gym that will cost a $1 each.

Stop by the “Navy Jail” in the main lobby. You can arrest your favorite teacher, principal or parent and have them locked in jail. It’s only 25 cents a minute to lock them up!

We will have some of your favorite carnival food. Please visit the cafeteria to get cotton candy, popcorn, pizza and hot dogs.  Don’t forget the lemonade!  While you are there in the cafeteria, try your luck at the “Cupcake Walk”.

To make this event successful, we are requesting 2 or 3 volunteers per class to setup and manage the food concessions, manage the games & crafts, and more. Use the below link to sign up:

FLEX Program Now Available

Students in the FLEX program receive an introduction to Spanish beginner level language and culture. The program focuses primarily on listening and speaking skills. Students use their senses to learn through dialogues, commands, pictures, stories, songs, games, and foods of the target country.

Open to Navy students in grades K-6.

When: 10 weeks – Tuesdays, 3:30pm-4:30pm, 2/28 – 5/8 (no class 4/3)

Where: Room A221

Cost: $129, includes tuition and course materials

Navy Skate Night

Join Us for a Night of Skating

Thursday, January 26th

Reston Town Center Ice Rink

Please join us in our annual Skate Night at Reston Town Center Ice Rink on Thursday, January 26th from 4:30 – 9:00pm.  We invite all Navy family and friends for a evening of fun sponsored by the Navy PTO.

$3 OF EACH $10 SKATING FEE WILL GO RIGHT BACK TO NAVY! 
(Stop by the Navy PTO table next to the rink to get a ticket)

We will also have hot chocolate ($1.50), cookies and glow bracelets ($0.50) on sale.

The Navy PTO is thankful for Reston Town Center Ice Rink for giving us the opportunity to host the Skate Night this year.  We hope you all can join us to make this a successful and fun event – it is sure to be a great time for the whole family!

Foreign Language Classes – Interest Survey

The Navy PTO, in conjunction with Fairfax County Public Schools’ Adult and Community Education, plans to offer world language classes before and after school if there is sufficient interest.

If you and your child are interested in attending FLEX classes, please print and complete the FLEX Interest Survey and return to your child’s classroom teacher before January 18th.

Community Outreach

Hat & Mitten Drive

Many people in our own community are facing challenging circumstances. Please give the gift of warmth this winter by donating new mittens, hats and scarves to those in need.

What: Please bring new hats, mittens or scarves.

When: November 7 – November 30

Where: Please drop off all donations to the bin marked “Hat/Mitten Drive” located outside of the front office.

**All sizes, and both children’s and adults are needed**

Your donations will be distributed through the Embry Rucker Community Shelter in Reston.

Fall Festival Tonight, 6:30-8:30 pm

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at tonight’s Navy Fall Festival; it is sure to be another fun-filled night of games, music & food!  There are so many exciting activities planned for the students:

  • Book Fair - official opening at 6pm!
  • Costume Party - wear your Halloween Costumes!
  • Pumpkin Contest - view all the entries and find out the winners!
  • Hallway Games - 9 games with prizes!
  • Dinner – come hungry for Pizza &  Subs!
  • Bake Sale - homemade desserts!
  • Free Face Painting - add to your costume!
  • Navy Apparel Sale - final night to see samples and place your orders!
  • DJ Matt - dance the night away!

There is no entry fee and all games & activities are FREE except the Wheel of Fortune Game ($1).  This event is open to Navy Elementary students, parents, and younger siblings.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please remember:

  • Students must be accompanied by an adult to attend and when leaving the building.  Parents cannot ”drop off” and leave the event – door monitors will not let you into the Fall Festival without an adult.
  • The school playground is only open to students who are being supervised by an adult.
  • Costumes should be appropriate and no costume weapons are allowed.
  • Be considerate of the volunteers running the games by following directions and waiting patiently for a turn.
  • Additional parking can be found at Childtime, which is off Ox Trail.  Cars parked on Ox Trail may be ticketed and or towed.
  • We strongly encourage carpooling.

Meet and Greet the Principal

Our new Principal, Mr. Coch, is looking forward to meeting each one of you very soon. He will be hosting a meet and greet the principal night with the help of some of the PTO members at the school this summer.  Kids can play on the playground and enjoy popsicles, while parents can catch up and chat with Mr. Coch.
