Mark Your Calendars for the 1st Navy Carnival, March 16th from 6:30-8:30pm!

Plan on a fun night of games for the kids! There’s even a game or two for the adults to play. There will be free games throughout the school with a few games in the gym that will cost a $1 each.

Stop by the “Navy Jail” in the main lobby. You can arrest your favorite teacher, principal or parent and have them locked in jail. It’s only 25 cents a minute to lock them up!

We will have some of your favorite carnival food. Please visit the cafeteria to get cotton candy, popcorn, pizza and hot dogs.  Don’t forget the lemonade!  While you are there in the cafeteria, try your luck at the “Cupcake Walk”.

To make this event successful, we are requesting 2 or 3 volunteers per class to setup and manage the food concessions, manage the games & crafts, and more. Use the below link to sign up:

Glory Days 2nd Quarter Contest

Congratulations to Mrs. Fitzpatrick and her 2nd grade class for winning the Second Quarter Glory Days contest!

Mrs. Fitzpatrick has won a gift card to Glory Days and each student in her class has won a coupon for a free ice-cream sundae for turning in the most Guest Checks from Glory Days.

***Please remember that this contest is going on all year long and next quarter could be your turn to win – so please turn in those guest checks and don’t forget to put the teacher name & student name on the back!

Navy Skate Night

Join Us for a Night of Skating

Thursday, January 26th
4:30 – 9:00PM
Reston Town Center Ice Rink

Please join us in our annual Skate Night at Reston Town Center Ice Rink on Thursday, January 26th from 4:30 – 9:00pm.  We invite all Navy family and friends for a evening of fun sponsored by the Navy PTO.

$3 OF EACH $10 SKATING FEE WILL GO RIGHT BACK TO NAVY! 
(Stop by the Navy PTO table next to the rink to get a ticket)

We will also have hot chocolate ($1.50), cookies and glow bracelets ($0.50) on sale.

The Navy PTO is thankful for Reston Town Center Ice Rink for giving us the opportunity to host the Skate Night this year.  We hope you all can join us to make this a successful and fun event – it is sure to be a great time for the whole family!

Foreign Language Classes – Interest Survey

The Navy PTO, in conjunction with Fairfax County Public Schools’ Adult and Community Education, plans to offer world language classes before and after school if there is sufficient interest.

If you and your child are interested in attending FLEX classes, please print and complete the FLEX Interest Survey and return to your child’s classroom teacher before January 18th.

Navy Blood Drive

Date: Monday, January 9, 2012
Time: 10:00 am to 2:30 pm
Location: Bloodmobile in the Navy Kiss & Ride Parking Lot

Navy Elementary and the PTO are again partnering with Inova Blood Services to hold a blood drive in memory of Mrs. Jinx Amon, a longtime Navy Kindergarten teacher. There is always a need for blood donors in order to maintain the levels to support our community. Please consider taking the time to make a donation in order to help those that rely on our blood banks during times of illness or injury.

Appointments may be made either by contacting Angela Evans at ang.evans5@gmail.com or through the Inova Blood Services online tool. To schedule using the online tool go to www.inovabloodsaves.org.  Click on “Donate Blood.” Type in our sponsor code – 7122 – and then hit “enter.” The Navy Blood Drive will be listed. Click on that drive and then schedule your appointment. You may need to register as an Inova donor if you haven’t already.

Teacher of the Year Awards

Nomination Info and Deadline

All of our teachers here at Navy are out of this world fabulous, but do you feel there is one that should be named Teacher of the Year? If so, let’s be sure to nominate them for this incredible honor!

The Teacher of the Year Award is Fairfax County Public School’s top honor to recognize excellence in the teaching profession. The winner, finalists, and nominees are all honored at a special reception and ceremony in the spring.  The winner will also be the recipient of the Washington Post Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award and compete for the Virginia Department of Education State Teacher of the Year Award.

Parents, students, administrators, FCPS staff and teachers, Fairfax County government employees, and Fairfax County citizens are invited and encouraged to nominate a deserving teacher for this prestigious award.

Apparel Delivery

All Navy Apparel orders have been delivered to the classroom teachers for distribution and should be sent home with children on Wednesday, November 23rd.

Please note, there has been a delay in receiving the Navy Magnets from our vendor and the magnets will be distributed in early December.
